The origin of Keukenhof Flower Garden can be traced back to 15th century. At that time, Keukenhof belonged to a landgrave, who cultivated vegetables and herbs and therefore named it "Keukenhof," literally meaning kitchen (keuken) and garden (hof.) In 1949, a group of farmers designed "Keukenhof" as a place for flower shows. Then, the more farmers came to Keukenhof, the more kinds of flowers were developed. Now, there are almost 7 million bulbs consisting of more than 1,000 sorts of tulips in Keukenhof. Don't forget your camera when you visit Keukenhof!
